Privacy Notice

Last updated: September 16, 2026

1. Who is responsible for your data

Yardly is operated by J.A.Y Developments. For the personal data described in this notice, J.A.Y Developments is the data controller — meaning we decide why and how your personal data is processed.

2. What we collect and why

  • Account data — name, email address and login credentials, used to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
  • Profile data — your display name, home city and province, used to personalise the service and show your listings. Legal basis: contract.
  • Listing content — sale titles, descriptions, addresses, dates, categories and photos you upload, used to publish your listing on the map. Legal basis: contract.
  • Usage and device data — IP address, device and browser identifiers, and basic telemetry, used for security, fraud prevention and product improvement. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
  • Support messages — if you contact us, we keep the conversation to help you. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

Payment card details are collected and processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, not by us.

3. Who we share data with

  • Service providers — hosting, database and analytics providers that process data on our behalf under contract.
  • Paddle — our Merchant of Record, which processes payments, handles billing, sales tax compliance and invoicing when you buy a listing.
  • Professional advisers — legal and accounting advisers where needed.
  • Authorities — where required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Public listings (including their approximate address, photos and your display name) are visible to anyone using Yardly.

4. International transfers

Some of our service providers process data outside Canada, the UK or the EEA. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.

5. Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, tax and accounting obligations. When data is no longer needed it is deleted or anonymised.

6. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security on our database — to protect your personal data. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under Canadian privacy law, and UK/EEA GDPR where applicable), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You can exercise these rights by contacting us; we respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

8. Cookies

Yardly uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and make the service work. We do not use advertising cookies. If we add analytics cookies in future we will update this notice and, where required, ask for your consent. You can clear cookies at any time in your browser settings.

9. Contact and changes

For any privacy question or request, contact J.A.Y Developments via the contact options in the app. If we change this notice we will update the date above. Related documents: Terms & Conditions and Refund Policy.
